Live Zoom Reiki classes for Indiana students

Indiana was admitted to the union as the 19th state on December 11, 1816, and today a Hoosier in Gary, Fort Wayne or Corydon can join the same live Zoom class from home. Ascension School of Healing Arts teaches from Ferndale, Michigan, and our online sessions bring students from every corner of the Crossroads of America onto one screen together.

Each live Zoom class moves at a steady pace, with time for questions, quiet practice and honest talk about what you noticed. Donna Lakes, teaching since 1999, keeps the group warm, grounded and practical so the lessons fit into an ordinary week.

Two time zones, one class schedule

Indiana is one of thirteen states split across two time zones, with 80 counties on Eastern time and 12 on Central, so we ask every Indiana student to check the listed start time for each live Zoom class against the clock in their own county. Two Hoosiers joining the same session may sit down at different local hours, and both belong in the room.

The whole state has observed daylight saving time only since April 2006, which still confuses the occasional calendar invite. When you register, confirm the hour in your own zone once, and the rest of the class schedule will be easy to follow.

Self-study courses at a Hoosier pace

Indiana has the highest proportion of any state of its non-farm workforce employed in manufacturing, nearly 17 percent, and plenty of Indiana schedules do not line up neatly with a fixed class hour. Our self-study courses let you work through the lessons whenever your week opens up, whether that is late on a weeknight or on a quiet Sunday morning.

Indiana also has a long habit of learning by reading: the golden age of Indiana literature ran into the 1920s, and James Whitcomb Riley, the Hoosier poet, wrote hundreds of poems on Hoosier themes. Our self-study material is written to be read slowly, returned to often, and practiced in your own space.

Quiet practice from the dunes to the Ohio River

From Indiana Dunes National Park on the Lake Michigan shoreline to the Ohio River along the southern border, Indiana students practice Reiki in very different settings, from city apartments to farmhouse kitchens in the corn belt. You might begin a session by stepping outside to listen for the northern cardinal, the state bird, before you log in to the live Zoom class.

Basketball runs deep in Indiana, and anyone who grew up on a gym floor knows that steady practice matters more than one big night. Reiki practice in our classes works the same way: small, regular sessions, a calm breath, and patient attention to how you feel.
