Whether you live near London, Edinburgh, Cardiff or Belfast, or anywhere in between, the live Zoom class reaches you in exactly the same way. The Ascension School of Healing Arts teaches Reiki and energy work from Ferndale, Michigan, and our online courses were built so that students across the UK can learn alongside one another from their own front room.

However you name it, the idea is simple: a small group gathers on screen, learns the hand positions and the principles of Reiki together, and then puts them into practice with guidance. How the live Zoom class works

Each live Zoom class is taught in real time, so you can ask questions, hear what other students have noticed and receive feedback as you practise. Because the school is based in the United States, please check each listed class time against your own clock before you book. Our team is happy to help you work it out.

Between sessions you keep practising on your own, on yourself, a friend or a family member. Many students find that steady, gentle practice at home matters as much as the class itself. Donna Lakes, who has been teaching since 1999, encourages a calm, practical approach: show up, breathe, place your hands and notice what you feel.

Self-study Reiki courses at your own pace

If a fixed timetable does not suit you, the self-study courses let you learn whenever it works for you. You can move through the material over a quiet weekend, a bank holiday such as the Early May Bank Holiday or the Spring Bank Holiday, or a few minutes each evening once the day has settled.

Some UK students pair the two: they begin with a self-study course to learn the basics and then join a live Zoom class to practise with others and ask questions. Others prefer the opposite order. There is no wrong way to begin, and the materials are written in plain language so that newcomers feel welcome from the first page.

Fitting Reiki around the British year

The calendar in the UK has its own rhythm. In 2026 there is a Summer Bank Holiday on 3 August and another on 31 August, and Saint Andrew's Day falls on 30 November. Long weekends like these can be a good moment to settle into a self-study module or catch up on your practice.

Summer is busy too, with the Pride in London Parade in early July, and Manchester Pride and the Notting Hill Carnival in London over the late August bank holiday weekend.
