Reiki for Marylanders, by Live Zoom

Maryland is called America in Miniature, a nickname tied to the wide range of topography packed inside a small state. ASHA's online program fits that spread well. A student near Hoye Crest on Backbone Mountain in Garrett County and a student beside the Chesapeake Bay can join the same live Zoom class from their own homes.

Our school is based in Ferndale, Michigan, and we teach Reiki and energy healing to Maryland students through the live Zoom class and self-study courses. Nothing about the program asks a Marylander to leave home. A quiet room, a steady connection and an open mind are enough to begin.

Annapolis, Baltimore and Every County on One Screen

Maryland's capital, Annapolis, sits on the Severn River near its mouth on the Chesapeake Bay. Its most populous city is Baltimore, an independent city that belongs to no county. Students across all 23 counties and the independent city of Baltimore share the same live Zoom class, so the capital and the largest city sit side by side on one screen.

Montgomery, the state's largest county, and the busy Washington-Baltimore region keep many Marylanders on full calendars. Self-study courses let those students work through lessons at their own pace. They can then bring their questions to the live Zoom class whenever it suits them.

Strong Deeds, Gentle Words

The official English rendering of Maryland's state motto is "strong deeds, gentle words," and it is a fair description of how we like to teach. Reiki asks for steady, simple effort: you show up, rest your hands, breathe, and let the session stay quiet.

Our founder, Donna Lakes, has been teaching since 1999, and her lessons favor plain language over big promises. A Marylander who prefers calm, practical instruction will find it in both the live Zoom class and the self-study courses.

A State of Many Names

Maryland carries several nicknames, including the Old Line State, the Free State and Little America. There has even been periodic talk of calling it the Bay State. A state with that many names suits students who come to Reiki for many different reasons, from personal curiosity to a wish for a regular quiet routine.

Maryland was the seventh state admitted to the Union, on April 28, 1788, and its first permanent settlement was at St. Mary's City. Students today add their own small part to that long story, joining the live Zoom class from wherever they call home in Maryland.
